Hello. My name is Dr Angie Boyle. I have worked for over 30 years supporting people as an advocate and support worker, therapist, trainer and educator. I am passionate about supporting those who have been disadvantaged by society and personal circumstances.
More recently I completed my PhD in Sociology. My research involved adults who experienced severe and enduring trauma in childhood. Listening to their lived experiences of how they looked back at different stages of their recovery process evolved into a framework which promotes recovery through reflection.
My research offers a message of hope. Recovery from trauma is possible but it does require a safe and supported therapeutic space in which you can be held to reflect, process and redefine your experiences of trauma and abuse.
As a trained person-centred therapist my research builds upon my experience of working with victim-survivors of domestic abuse in frontline services.
Please contact me to discuss how I can help you or your organisation.

Please contact me to discuss any training or consultancy issues you may have. The Framework for Redefining the Past was developed from research with adults who grew up living with domestic abuse (Click on the link above for my book chapter The Journey Towards Recovery). The Framework details the five distinct stages as described by adult survivors of childhood domestic abuse and shows how childhood trauma and abuse can be overcome.
The Framework for Redefining the Past moves from trauma and its impact to redefining the past. Processing past trauma enables new perspectives and insight, leading to a more integrated and positive self to flourish.
Training on the Redefining the Past Framework and the findings of my research is available, please contact me to discuss.

I believe in a holistic approach to self-care. Using an integrated technique I draw upon my experience as a person-centred therapist, use of mindfulness and meditation tools.
I work online using Zoom and as I believe it fundamentally important that we feel we are a good fit, I offer a free 20 mins initial consultation. If you decide to work with me we will meet weekly for the first 4 sessions as it important to build momentum.
Sessions last for an hour and cost £50. Payment is required prior to each of the first 4 appointments.
I work in a non-judgemental person-centred tradition but also draw upon my experience across different traditions including the use of mantras and chanting, contemplative meditation, gratitude and prayer work, breathwork and qi gong. Together we will explore what techniques and practices can bring about balance and joy in your own life. I hold a safe therapeutic space for you to work through whatever difficulties and issues in your journey of growth and self-discovery.
I look forward to working with you.
